WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Federal Trade Commission has
joined the blogosphere with a site to explore how technology is
changing the way consumers shop, bank, pay bills and
communicate.

The "Tech-ade Blog" will include interviews with technology
experts ahead of the agency's November 6-8 public hearing on
how to protect consumers from ID theft, spyware, online
shopping fraud and other Web-related marketplace issues, the
FTC said in a statement on Wednesday.

Hosting the blog at http://ftcchat.us/blog/ is a recent
college graduate who works as a paralegal in the FTC's bureau
of consumer protection, an FTC spokeswoman said.

The blog includes a disclaimer that the views expressed do
not necessarily represent the views of the FTC or any
individual FTC commissioner.

The FTC monitors unfair competition in the marketplace,
including deceptive advertisements, telemarketing scams and
Internet fraud.
